I want a GPFR prepared
Can I import a new chart of accounts into an existing Xero
Ensure you understand the options and risks
Yes.
And, No.
You should only import a new chart of accounts into a Xero when, there are NO TRANSACTIONS in Xero.
Warning!
Importing a new chart of accounts into an existing Xero with multiple transactions can create issues.
The reason is, Xero MAY either
- Archive accounts
- Delete accounts
Which means you MAY have
- Duplicated accounts
- Inaccurate reports
In short, do NOT do it when there are transactions in Xero.
